Find myself really surprised at the posts regarding I81. We've always used I81 (from MA, over TappenZee to 78 to 81) and just assumed it was easier than going through the mess known as NY, NJ, and Washington. We only go as far as Rte. 66 to Rte. 17 then we're back on 95 in Fredricksburg. We actually thought about 81 to 77 to 26 to 95 in SC, thinking it would be safer, and less traffic. Is it really worse than 95? Is there an alternative to 95 and 81 that would get us around the NE mess? Again, I'm perplexed about this new information?
Well its always a good idea to get off I-81 and travel US 11 one thing is you get away from the trucks and you are able to find some great places to stop along the way...
